Final accounting...

Our story begins late on an October afternoon. Brenda and Jolene are in the office finishing up with final preparations for two major events—a low key gathering to celebrate the return of a friend who has been away for some time; and, final arrangements for the weekend hunting retreat. Brenda is also responsible for babysitting a willful three-year-old who is about to be dropped off after spending the day with two of her pseudo aunties.
